My TV times are inundated with some of the most irksome advertisements these days. While I always skip the ads as much as I can, a few escape my escapism and find themselves lodged into my brain to eat my brain cells which are already on the decline!! 😝🙄
The commercials are a by-product of creativity and brilliance that are intended to make a brand popular. But there are a few ads which I can’t seem to stand. Many ads are irritating and plain stupid but below are the top three ones that I find most offensive!!
3. The Brooke Bond Red Label ad:
May be I mistook! But.. It is the responsibility of the ad film makers to make sure their messages reach the audience appropriately. All I could get was that the old man was unwilling to enter the woman’s home initially and all of a sudden he remembers his wife might have an aching leg just when he smells the tea! Even if the neighbor lady had not been a muslim it is still offensive that he chose to get into her home only after he smells the tea. Idiot!
Everything aside.. We do NOT need an ad to instill a thought to be finding every human an equal irrespective of caste, creed and religion (My 10th std social studies did a good job of what this ad convolutedly tries to convey :O), that which should be intrinsic).
The moronic concept clouded my mental reception at registering its brand name. I had been thinking it was 3 roses so long! 😂😅😅
2. The Dettol ad:
The “dettol dettol ho!” jingle is irritating enough that it keeps revebrating in your ears even after the ad is over. Like when you are exposed to high decibels. And the latest ad just takes it up a notch.
The boy responds to his mom who asks him to get cleaned up – “Saavraanga ponnunga”! meaning “Girls are dying”! (Couldn’t get the Tamil version of the ad which is even more bothersome!)
Dying for what? To smell you?! OMG!! Perhaps they are dying because they could not tolerate how smelly he is!! 🤦🏽♀️
1. The BRU ad:
This one tops the list. The lady is stupid enough to think that her ‘MD’ husband needs more coffee than her. Oh woman!
The very fact that you spoiled her career is good enough to make people hate you, Old man and you justify your act by ‘letting’ have a lil more coffee now?! (I am not talking about a situation where it was her choice to stay back at home for whatever reasons.. but still…)
Duffers!! And my bigger peeve than the ad’s theme is that the yucky old man spills the coffee 😛
Andd….. There are a good many advertisements, that are worth watching. They deserve a new post! 👍🏼
